We’ve been changing lives in Kenya for more than 20 years
• Clean drinking water and sanitation
• Holistic health programmes
• Educational opportunities
We have helped deliver the vital ingredients that make a life-changing difference. Now you can help us deliver more…
Who we are
When Muriel, Sid and Mary visited Kenya back in 1998 they immediately saw how they could make a real and lasting difference - providing life opportunities to the next generation.
Returning to their native North East they galvanised a group of volunteers and set about raising money and assembling the people who could help deliver change to a local agenda. And The Acorn Project was born when it was originally 'Kenya Acorn Project' and has only been known as 'Acorn Project' since 2019.

Over 20 years on the team have delivered opportunity in spades - from clean, accessible drinking water, to health and educational programmes. The ingredients that provide a lasting foundation for better lives.
Every child no matter where they are born deserves the right to succeed in life.
What we do
Access to clean water
We've worked with teams on the ground to deliver the water communities need for everyday life.
Vital infrastructure that negates tiresome treks and prevents disease.
Making a difference
for Samuel & Lavender
Samuel and Lavender have both been supported through primary and secondary schools which made them eligible for further assistance at university.
They successfully gained
qualifications as Clinical Officers.

Samuel is currently being assisted to further his medical qualifications.
Health
We have worked with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver health programmes in local schools, counselling for HIV/AIDS patients and provided medical assistance in rural areas at outreach clinics/home visits.
Our visits
Volunteer visitors have shared their knowledge and skills with the local community.
We have also provided hand-knitted/crocheted items, school uniforms, educational resources and medical supplies/equipment.
